Operation Smile :)
This year, the 6th annual Operation Smile campaign at St. Mary’s College was a terrific success! Ms. Trecroce’s Grade 12 Immersion Religion class organized fun and exciting events during the week of October 15-19, 2012 in order to raise money for children in need of cleft palate and cleft lip surgeries around the world. Many Grade 12 students volunteered to strut their stuff in the first ever Smile Fashion Show on October 17th, which raised a total of $543.10. Again, on October 19th, students and teachers took one for the team as they received a fresh pie in the face, resulting in a profit of $206.45. T-shirts with a brand new design sold like hotcakes, as we had to submit 2 extra orders due to immense demand, ending in a $1200 profit. Furthermore, donation cans were placed in homeroom classes and the response from students was overwhelming with donations exceeding $100. In all, the Gr. 12 Immersion students raised $3,285.47, which will provide over 13 children with the gift of a new smile! Ms. Trecroce’s students had an amazing time organizing this campaign as they bonded together to put their faith into action for the less fortunate. The incredible success of this fundraiser would not have been possible without the generous support from staff and students of SMC and the community.
