Learning Strategies (GLE)

Learning Strategies Course (GLE Class):
- credit course that is used as an elective for students working toward a diploma
- accessed by students on IEP's
- daily class, that is part of their schedule that offers support in all subject matters
- curriculum is integrated through daily skills such as time management, organization and study skills
- students have the support of Assistive Technology teachers as well as classroom teachers

The Role of The Learning Resource Teacher (LRT):
- develop a personal relationship with all student in the GLE classes, or on IEP's
- constantly monitor student progress
- maintain the student's IEP
- act as a liaison between student and classroom teacher
- act as a contact person for parents
- meet with students annually to make course selections and make students aware of programs offered
- assist with transition planning into, and out of, secondary
- host annual IPRC &, if necessary, transition planning meetings
